The Alter program was created in 2019 at Georgia State University to address the lack of resources and awareness around dementia in African American and faith communities. Alter partners with churches to empower their work toward providing supportive environments for families affected by dementia through education, environmental modifications and implementation or expansion of dementia resources and support programs. The organization works with churches to create dementia-friendly and inclusive environments. Their services are available at no cost.
