Non-Discrimination Statement 2017-05-29T12:10:41+00:00

Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) is founded on the fundamental belief that every person has a unique background, skills, interests and the right to determine how to live his or her own life.  Unlawful discrimination has no place at DAA and offends the Alliance’s core values, which include a commitment to person-centered opportunity and inclusion.   All DAA partners and representatives are expected to join in and uphold this commitment.

DAA is committed to building a diverse coalition and welcomes any partner who shares a commitment to the Alliance’s stated vision, mission and goals, and to the principle and practice of non-discrimination.  DAA actively seeks to partner with people who have been historically under-represented in advocacy and support alliances, including people living with dementia, people of color, LBGTQI people, people with disabilities, and people from low- or moderate-income backgrounds.

DAA does not discriminate in its partnerships, educational programs or activities on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, age, religion or religious creed, disability or impairment, sex or gender, gender identity and/or expression (including a transgender identity), sexual orientation, genetic information, or any characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law.  Retaliation is also prohibited.  DAA will comply with state and federal laws such as Title IX, Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other similar laws that prohibit discrimination.

Dementia Action Alliance reflects its commitment to inclusivity and acceptance throughout its activities and operations. These activities include, but are not limited to: selection of volunteers, vendors, products, contractors and meeting sites; development and delivery of programs; acceptance of partners and provision of services.

Any member of the DAA community has the right to raise concerns or make a complaint regarding discrimination under this statement without fear of retaliation.  Any and all inquiries regarding the application of this statement may be referred to:  Karen Love, Executive Director, DAA; karenlove4@verizon.net
