Anosognosia: Understanding is the Beginning
Sept. 16, 2026
12:30 – 1:30 pm ET
Have you ever felt like you and someone close to you see reality differently?
How does that affect your relationship and well-being?
Anosognosia is a condition where a person lacks awareness of changes in their own abilities, often leading to misunderstandings, stress, and conflict.
Dr. Al Power describes dementia as a shift in how one perceives the world. When perspectives don’t align, it can create challenges in daily interactions.
Join us for an engaging, interactive discussion facilitated by individuals with lived experience. This interactive conversation will provide a safe space to share insights, explore solutions, and build understanding.
We meet every two months (Sept. 16, and Nov. 18). This Caring Conversation is for people living with dementia and their personal care partners.
We welcome professional care partners and healthcare providers to check out this recent webinar on this topic. $25 for 1.75 CEs. Questions? Contact info@daanow.org
Rethink the Tragedy Narrative
Sept. 30, 2026
12:00 – 4:45 pm ET
Join us on September 30th for an inspiring online symposium that challenges the traditional “tragedy narrative” of dementia and centers the voices of those who know it best: people living with dementia.
Too often, dementia is viewed solely through a lens of loss, decline, and dependence. This symposium invites participants to consider a different story—one grounded in dignity, possibility, and the belief that a diagnosis does not define a person’s identity, strengths, or capacity for growth and well-being.
Guided by the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us,” attendees will hear first-person perspectives and lived experiences that challenge assumptions and expand understanding. Together, we will explore how our language, beliefs, and systems influence the support people living with dementia receive—and how true partnership begins by listening to and learning from those directly affected.
Participants will discover practical strategies for honoring voice and choice, strengthening advocacy, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating communities where people living with dementia are recognized as valued contributors rather than passive recipients of care.
Whether you are living with dementia, a care partner, professional, advocate, or community member, this symposium will inspire you to move beyond tragedy and toward a future where all people can live with purpose, connection, and possibility.
4.75 CEUs have been approved through NAB/NCERS, NCCDP & SHRM.
